Hotel Gym Equipment Checklist

A practical checklist for hotel fitness centers: what guests actually use, how much space you need and what to skip.

Hotel fitness centers are judged in online reviews more than most managers expect. Guests do not need a full commercial gym, but they do expect working machines, a clean room and the basics they use at home. Use this checklist when planning or refreshing a hotel gym.

The essentials

  • At least one commercial treadmill, and two if you have more than 100 rooms
  • An elliptical or upright bike
  • A recumbent bike for guests who want low-impact cardio
  • Dumbbells from 5 to 50 lb on a rack
  • An adjustable bench
  • Mats, a stretching area and a few resistance bands

Room and safety details

  • Allow a clear zone behind every treadmill
  • Use rubber flooring to protect the subfloor and reduce noise
  • Post emergency instructions and safety key reminders
  • Provide wipes, towels and water near the entrance

What to skip

Large selectorized circuits and heavy plate loaded machines rarely get used in hotels and take up space. A functional trainer covers most cable exercises in one footprint.

Our Hotel Fitness Center Package covers this checklist for a typical room. Request a quote with your room size and we will send a layout.
